Create your own Board

For independent Board operators. Self-hosting setup and documentation are still being refined. You will manage this independent installation.

Run Textile on infrastructure you choose, with your own domain, accounts, and moderation policies.

Self-hosting gives your community a way to operate independently. Your provider and jurisdiction set the limits for that installation.

What you’ll need

A server that runs Luan, a domain for your website, and an email service for account links. You will maintain the installation and its backups.

1. Get Textile

   Take a clean copy from the source repository and use the project’s SELF_HOSTING.md instructions for setup.

2. Set up your server

   Install Luan or use a Luan hosting provider. Configure your email service using the supplied configuration sample.

3. Open your Board

   Set up the independent installation’s Board and add its Forums. Each independent Textile installation contains one Board.
